As a Huntington’s Disease Specialist Nurse with Exemplar Health Care, you’ll act in a proactive manner to support our homes to provide and our care via a systematic, coordinated and coaching approach.

No two days will ever be the same, but your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the implementation of new initiatives to improve people’s quality of life
• Developing effective working practices
• Establishing a complete understanding of the needs of the people in our homes who have a HD primary diagnosis, including secondary diagnoses, complex care and risk requirements
• Tailoring colleague training requirements to meet the needs of people in a person-centred way, and supporting the delivery of this training
• Developing and embedding an HD Champion role, and supporting these Champions to link directly with their local HD networks
• Working with the Operational Team (Clinical Nurse Managers / Registered Nurses and HD Champions) to offer support and coach
• Assisting with the development of quality policies and procedures, audit materials and Service User, Colleague and Relative information materials
• Building external brand reputation in our ability to care for the people we support with HD

You must also have a first-level nursing registration with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) PIN.

As this is a high level, strategic role, you should have a minimum of two years’ experience in a specialist nurse role and extensive experience and knowledge of Huntington’s Disease.
