An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Audio Typist to join the Vascular Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. There are 14 consultants and 4 nurses within this time This role is pivotal in enabling the Directorate to provide a high-quality, comprehensive and professional administrative service to patients, relatives, carers and other internal and external stakeholders.
Vascular Service is based at the Northern General Hospital and is the service provider for South Yorkshire.
Main duties of the jobThe main duty of this role is accurately typing patient letters relating to clinic appointments, test results, referrals, discharge summaries from digital audio dictation, long hand, or verbal dictation. Aiming towards turning typing around in 48 hours. Use of Microsoft work programmes and hospital systems.

Person specification Qualifications- GCSE at Grade C/4 in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications) or equivalent experience
- OCR l or II Typewriting qualification or equivalent typing experience within an office environment
- Experience of working within an office environment
- Experience of working in a public facing role
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word
- Relevant experience within the NHS
- Vascular Medical Terminology
- General Clerical and administrative experience
- Relevant experience of using/typing medical terminology within a secretarial/clerical role within the NHS
- Experience of using a digital dictation system
- Knowledge of / experience of using information and/or customer service systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Previous experience Infoflex / 59R Software
- Previous experience of PAS / Infoflex / Systm One (area specific software
- Understanding of data protection issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to deal with staff at all levels
- Displays use of initiative with effective organisational skill
- Ability to prioritise and work to strict/conflicting deadlines
- On-going commitment to personal development
