Physiotherapist Special Schools Team (12-Month Fixed Term, 2 Full Time Positions) | Full-time 37.5 hrs per week | Proposed interview date 26-Feb-2025

One position will be in the special schools team and the second position will be in the community therapy team.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our Special Schools team in Sheffield, providing high-quality physiotherapy care to children with a range of conditions in both school and community settings.

You will work across two primary and secondary schools, contributing to both school life and therapy sessions. It is a rewarding role, with the chance to make a difference in the lives of children and their families.

Reporting & Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality physiotherapy care within a Special School setting as part of a multi-professional team.
  • Perform advanced assessments and diagnose physiotherapy-related issues in children.
  • Develop and deliver tailored treatment programmes for each child.
  • Independently manage your own caseload of children, with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure integrated care.
  • Access support, training, and guidance from senior physiotherapists while growing as an autonomous practitioner.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Qualifications & Training Essential criteria
  • HPHC registration
  • Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent, relevant postgraduate courses and in-service training
  • Portfolio evidence of reflective practice
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of the CSP
  • Membership of APCP
Experience Essential criteria
  • Variety of significant and relevant experience including respiratory care and knowledge of a broad variety of conditions
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working with children either professionally or socially
Desirable criteria
  • Significant paediatric caseload experience in an acute or community setting and including acute respiratory rotation
  • Student / assistant supervision
  • Involvement in audit, research, or service evaluation
  • Recent experience of (within 5 years) working within on call services
  • Paediatric on call experience
Knowledge Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and its implications for services
  • Understanding of family / team dynamics and how to develop working relationships with all involved in the child’s care
  • Understanding of the impact of disability / hospitalisation on children and their families
  • Understanding of data protection, confidentiality…
