Locum Obstetrics Sonographer – Long‑Term NHS Contract (Sheffield)
* Rate: £50.00 per hour PAYE (all‑inclusive, before deductions)
* Contract Length:
Minimum 6 months, with strong potential for extension
* Hours:
9am–5pm, 7‑day service
* Working Pattern: 4–5 days per week (flexible scheduling available)
Trident healthcare is recruiting a large, high‑performing NHS Trust in Sheffield seeking an experienced Locum Obstetrics Sonographer to join their busy ultrasound department on a long‑term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a sonographer looking for stability, consistent hours, and the chance to work within a supportive, well‑structured clinical environment.
About the Role
You will be working within a dedicated obstetrics ultrasound team, providing high‑quality imaging services across the full range of obstetric examinations. The department is well‑equipped, fast‑paced, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Performing a full spectrum of obstetric ultrasound scans, including early pregnancy, dating, NT, anomaly, growth, and presentation scans
* Working autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team
* Ensuring accurate documentation and reporting in line with NHS and departmental standards
* Supporting the smooth running of the service during a period of increased demand
* Maintaining a high level of patient care, professionalism, and clinical quality
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
* Minimum 6 months of UK experience performing obstetric ultrasound scans
* HCPC registration (essential)
* Strong clinical competency and confidence working independently
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a busy NHS setting
* Availability to commit to the full contract duration (minimum 6 months)
* Flexibility to work within a 7‑day service rota
