Sheffield Children’s are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic individuals who are looking to start or further their Health and Social Care work experience and career. As a support worker youll be at the very heart of everything – it s a vital role that keeps things running smoothly. Youll support patients on their journey through their care, sharing their experiences and making a difference.

Through a structured training package you will receive both on-the-job and classroom training. We can support you to become an accomplished Band 3 Support Worker within approximately 3 months.

Please note, a driving licence and access to a vehicle are required, as youll visit patients and families in community settings.

Main duties

Reporting to a Senior Staff Nurse, youll receive comprehensive training and the opportunity to gain qualifications to support your NHS career. Many individuals who complete our training have advanced to roles within our organisation and the wider Sheffield Health and Social Care network.

You will assist qualified nurses and practitioners in delivering patient care, including:

  • Help with personal hygiene, wound dressing, and removal
  • Support nutritional needs, including oral and tube feeding
  • Take and report physiological observations
  • Escort patients between departments
  • Provide family support and communication
