To manage a defined caseload, using evidence‑based, client‑centred principles. To assess occupational and vocational needs. To plan and implement interventions in a range of settings, including clinical and community. To maintain clinical records. To develop skills and knowledge through participation in PDR and supervision.
Main duties of the jobTo undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the client in areas of self‑maintenance, productivity and leisure. To work with clients to identify OT goals as part of the overall care plan. To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the client, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals. To appropriately signpost to community‑based services.
To effectively assess risk. To monitor and evaluate treatment, in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention.

Job responsibilities- Communication
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with clients, carers, OT colleagues, team members and other agencies.
- Participate effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to decisions regarding client assessment and treatment plans.
- Documentation
- Ensure that up‑to‑date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust standards.
- Professional ethics
- Comply with HCPC and RCOT Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and national and local policies and procedures.
- Respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of clients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
- Leadership supervision & appraisal
- Review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal.
- Be involved in supervision and support of Band 3 Support Workers within the team.
- Training staff & students
- Participate in the induction, training and education of students and other staff in this setting.
- Service development & delivery
- Participate in the planning, evaluation and audit of practice, clinical pathways and protocols within your area.
- Participate in the delivery of the OT development plan.
- Professional development
- Apply acquired skills and knowledge of professional practice, demonstrating fitness to practise as an OT.
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with Health Care Professions Council
- Placement Educator Accreditation L'APPLE or willingness to undertake within first year
- Ability to assess complex health and well being needs and develop appropriate OT interventions
- The ability to monitor and prioritise own workload and work as an effective member of a team
- Ability to work within the limits of own competence and responsibility, referring issues on to relevant people
- Knowledge of a range of mental health conditions and relevant mental health legislation
- Previous experience in adult mental health environment
