Main duties of the jobA message from your Head of Department
As the NMT you play a key role in enabling clients to regain independence and enhance their experience of therapy whilst at STEPS.
Being part of the STEPS team means working collaboratively, supporting colleagues across disciplines, sharingknowledgeand always keeping the client at the centre of what we do.
Success in this role is measured not just by clinical outcomes, but by the compassion, professionalism, and teamwork undertaken each day.
The NMT team delivers both individual and group interventions,supporting clients withavariety ofcomplexneurologicaland complextraumapresentationsat various stages of rehabilitation and care.
Referrals are made based on clinical need, and music therapists contributetoclientcase reviews andinterdisciplinarydiscussionsasappropriate. Sessions are goal-oriented, tailored to each client'sneeds, and often delivered in collaboration withothertherapydisciplines to support integrated, person-centred care.

Job responsibilitiesThis Job description is an outline which reflects the present requirements of the post and is not intended to be exhaustive list of duties the post holder will be expected to fulfil.
To deliver a high-quality, evidence based Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) service to clients with diverse, complex presentations.
Manage a defined caseload using specialist assessment and treatment approaches, including Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) principles and Music Therapy approaches appropriate.
Engage in regular clinical supervision, NMT professional development credits and wider CPD to maintain professional standards in line with the NMT Academy, BAMT and HCPC requirements.
Contribute to the efficient running and development of the NMT service under guidance of the Lead NMT.
To undertake initial assessments, reviews and evaluation of Therapy strategies for residential clients from admission to discharge.
To be able to utilise highly developed therapeutic skills to support rehabilitation for clients presenting with a diverse range of neurological and complex trauma injuries.
To involve clients and carers/family in the development and delivery of goals within the rehabilitation plan.
Provide clinical leadership, support and guidance to other team members.
To adhere to and carry out individual client and departmental risk assessments.
To liaise effectively with appropriate members of the team regarding the progress of clients to optimise the outcome for each individual. This may include family and written reports to external bodies.
To act upon and expedite issues as required following STEPS guidance and operating procedures.
