We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Underwriter.
As a Senior Underwriter within Underwriting Services Operations (UWS), you’ll play a pivotal role in assessing complex lending applications, often for international customers, delivering well-reasoned credit decisions, and safeguarding our customers and the bank from credit, fraud, regulatory, and conduct risks. You’ll provide constructive feedback to advisors across our customer channels—including the intermediary market—helping us continually raise the bar for customer service.

- Analyse and use your initiative to deliver balanced secured lending decisions based on affordability
- Collaborate with business areas to improve the customer journey
- Ensure procedures and controls are followed, minimising fraud, losses, and bad debt
- Critically review policies and recommend evidence-based changes
- Identify opportunities to enhance working practices
- Work collaboratively across all UK brands
- In-depth knowledge of the end-to-end mortgage process
- Experience making accurate lending decisions in a policy-driven environment
- Confident and effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- A passion for improving customer service and exceeding expectations
- Underwriting mandate preferred (training available for the right candidate)
- Strong problem-solving and investigatory skills
- Ability to interpret policy and adapt to changing procedures
