Are you highly organised with great attention to detail and a passion for delivering excellent service? We're looking for an RMPP Pensions Payroll Administrator to join our HR Services team. You'll play a key role in ensuring pensioner members of the Royal Mail Pension Plan receive accurate and timely payments, while contributing to exceptional service standards and continuous improvement.

About the Role

Working as part of the Pensioner Payroll team, you'll be responsible for processing, reconciling and paying pensions on monthly and quarterly cycles. You'll support ad hoc calculations, manage data changes, respond to member and third party queries, and assist with annual projects such as pension increases and P60 production. You'll also help ensure our service meets legislative requirements, Plan rules, and Trustee agreed service levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process, reconcile and pay pensioner payroll on monthly and quarterly cycles, including overseas payments.
  • Calculate ad hoc payments including trivial commutations and suspended pensions.
  • Manage data changes such as address updates, bank amendments, beneficiary changes and death nominations.
  • Handle member queries and liaise with external stakeholders, including HMRC.
  • Support annual activities including pension increase projects, child benefit entitlement reviews and P60 distribution.
  • Maintain service quality in line with Plan rules and HR Services specifications.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities aligned to PASA Gold Standard and CI frameworks.
  • Take ownership of personal development to stay current with payroll legislation, processes, and pension requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, clients, and internal colleagues.
About You

You're a reliable, detail focused professional who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and supporting customers. You thrive in a team environment, communicate clearly, and stay calm under deadlines.

What You'll Bring
  • A level education (or equivalent) with strong GCSE English and Maths.
  • Ideally 2+ years' experience in payroll (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience of pensioner payroll is an advantage.
  • Strong numeracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Team focused attitude and flexibility to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to work accurately and efficiently.
  • CIPP qualification (desirable) or willingness to work towards it.
