Graduate Town Planner

A specialist environmental and planning consultancy is looking to appoint a Graduate Town Planner to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated planning graduate to start their career within a multidisciplinary consultancy that delivers planning, ecology, and environmental services across the UK.
Working alongside experienced planners and environmental specialists, you'll gain hands-on exposure to a broad range of projects across sectors such as residential, renewable energy, infrastructure, and commercial development.
The Role
As a Graduate Town Planner, you will support the planning team in delivering high-quality planning advice and applications. This is a varied role that will allow you to develop your technical knowledge while building practical experience in the planning system.
Key responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications and supporting documents
Conducting planning policy research and site appraisals
Supporting the preparation of Planning Statements, Design & Access Statements, and appeal documentation
Reviewing local planning policy, development plans, and planning constraints
Liaising with colleagues across ecology, environmental assessment, and planning teams
Supporting client communications and project coordination
Monitoring planning applications and local authority decisions
About You
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about planning and keen to build a long-term career within a consultancy environment.
You should have:
A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
Eligibility for or working towards RTPI accreditation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good research and analytical ability
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
A full UK driving licence (desirable)
