AWA Tree Consultants is an independent arboricultural consultancy working across the UK on a wide range of development, planning, and tree management projects. We work closely with planners, developers, ecologists, and local authorities, and are known for our technical integrity, proportionate advice, and supportive team culture.

We are now looking to recruit an additional consultant to support our workload and strengthen the resilience of the team as the business continues to evolve.
The roleThis is a varied consultancy role suited to either a graduate / early-career consultant or an experienced arboricultural consultant, depending on skills and experience. The role will include a mix of office- and site-based work, such as:
- Tree surveys and inspections, including risk assessments and BS5837 work
- Preparation of Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA) and Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS).
- Technical report writing and analysis
- Liaison with colleagues, clients, and local planning authorities
You’ll work alongside experienced consultants in a friendly small team environment where quality, judgement, and professionalism are valued.
About youWe’re open to a range of backgrounds and levels of experience. You might be:
- An arboricultural consultant with a good working knowledge of BS5837, planning-led consultancy, tree risk, and professional reporting; or
- A graduate or early-career consultant with a degree in arboriculture, forestry, ecology, environmental science, geography, or a related discipline, looking to develop a career in arboricultural consultancy.
In all cases, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- A genuine interest in trees, development, and the planning process
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
- A professional, organised approach to work
The ability to manage workloads and work independently as well as part of a team - A willingness to take responsibility and develop professionally
Previous consultancy experience is welcomed but not essential for graduate or early-career applicants.
