About the Role

Midianet, part of REED Engineering & Manufacturing, is growing rapidly and seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager (Machining) to lead and support strategic and technical aspects of its machine shops, ensuring quality, budget and schedule are met while fostering operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support strategic and technical aspects of machine shops to deliver customer products.
  • Provide technical and managerial leadership to several manufacturing and tooling engineers, ensuring products are produced right‑first‑time, meeting quality, budget and schedule.
  • Own the training and development plans for staff and apprentices, ensuring they are trained to the highest standards.
  • Work in a matrix structure with HR, quality, HS&E and production teams, and collaborate with the head of machine shops and the production manager to bridge current operations with the new machine shop recapitalisation team, ensuring a smooth transition over the next five years.
Essential Skills
  • Lead teams through change management.
  • Proven skills in manufacturing engineering techniques.
  • Machining high‑value, high‑integrity components.
  • Expertise in both low and high‑volume manufacturing processes and methodologies.
  • Applied codes and standards from highly regulated sectors such as Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Orthopaedic and Aerospace.
  • Lead continuous improvement programmes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven expertise in new product and process introduction.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM and PLM systems.
  • Ability to analyse data, make recommendations and report findings.
Personal Skills
  • Robust leadership skills, strong emotional intelligence and excellent listening skills to foster effective professional relationships.
  • Clear communication, both written and verbal, at all levels within and outside the organisation covering technical and non‑technical information.
