KS1 Teaching Assistant Job – Primary School | Sheffield | Immediate Start

Are you an experienced KS1 Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in Sheffield? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with recent UK primary school experience to support pupils in Key Stage 1 and help drive strong academic progress.

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time (Term Time Only)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: Immediate / September Start Available

Our welcoming Sheffield primary school is looking to appoint a skilled Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to support children in Years 1 and 2. This role requires someone confident supporting phonics, early reading, writing, and maths interventions in line with the UK National Curriculum.

You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver targeted support, raise attainment, and contribute to a positive and structured learning environment.

This position is particularly suited to candidates with proven experience in UK primary schools who understand KS1 expectations, assessment frameworks, and classroom routines.

• Provide classroom support within a KS1 setting (Year 1 and Year
  2)

• Deliver phonics interventions (including support with schemes such as Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds or similar)

• Support early literacy and numeracy development

• Lead small group and 1:1 booster sessions

• Assist with formative assessment and pupil progress tracking

• Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies

• Support pupils with SEND where required

• Recent experience working in a UK primary school (essential)

• Experience supporting pupils in Key Stage 1

• Strong understanding of phonics and early reading strategies

• Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum

• Ability to manage behaviour effectively and positively

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

• Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred
