Are you a graduate or current undergraduate seeking flexible work experience while you study or plan your next career move?
We’re looking for personable, adaptable individuals to join a specialist primary school supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role offers hands‑on experience, flexible working patterns, and the chance to build key skills in education, psychology, child development, or related fields.
As a Graduate/Student SEN Teaching Assistant
, you will:
- Support pupils with additional needs, including ASD, in classroom and small‑group settings
- Help deliver structured learning activities and targeted support to aid engagement and development
- Assist with preparing and adapting materials so lessons are accessible for all learners
- Use positive behaviour and communication strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to help provide a safe, inclusive learning environment
- Supervise and support pupils during transitions, break times, and routine tasks
This role is particularly suited to graduates considering careers in education, educational psychology, speech & language therapy, child development, or pastoral support
, as well as undergraduates who need flexibility around study commitments.
You don’t need to be a qualified teacher, just someone who:
- Is studying toward or has completed a bachelor’s degree in any field (degrees related to psychology, education, sociology or child development are a plus but not essential)
- Enjoys working with young people and wants practical experience in a specialist setting
- Has a flexible schedule and reliable availability for day-to-day bookings
- Communicates clearly, works well in a team, and stays calm under pressure
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing (enhanced DBS required/willing to obtain)
No prior formal SEN experience is necessary, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn go a long way.
