Further activity and support may be provided to enhance career confidence and outcomes for graduates.
The role of Faculty Employability & Placements Officer includes supporting the institutional and faculty objectives for employability and placements provision, working as part of a faculty employability team in collaboration with colleagues in the faculty, Schools and the wider Careers & Employability Service, as well as other teams as needed, to embed employability in the curriculum. A key focus will be ensuring that students are supported to access placements and other work-related learning opportunities, which will include external engagement activity and support for employer partners.
MainDuties And Responsibilities
- As a key member of the Faculty Employability Team, support the delivery of employability priorities in the Faculty Education Action Plan with a particular focus on extending student access to placements and work-related learning.
- Support the development of plans to optimise the numbers of students participating in work-related learning, leading elements of work as appropriate, such as promotion and effective communication with students.
- Coordinate the delivery of placement year support, providing advice, information and guidance for staff and students in line with university policy and guidelines and employer expectations.
- Deliver presentations and information to groups of students both in modules and in co-curricular sessions, including specific advice and guidance to prepare them for positive transitions into the workplace as placement students or new graduates, to support both students and employers.
- Review and evaluate the success of employability activities and events, producing reports to stakeholders as required with recommendations for future developments.
- Lead the organisation of various employability and placement activities, which may include careers showcases, networking events or site visits, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
- Support efforts to ensure that employability provision is accessible and inclusive, with an awareness of any variation in needs, and taking action accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with Schools to build and strengthen links with external organisations and alumni to support the employability in the curriculum priorities, including sourcing and developing placements and work-related learning opportunities.
- Provide support for any alumni/employer Advisory Boards, maintaining contact with board members, planning meetings and agendas to optimise engagement and impact.
- Support student recruitment activity through the promotion of employability and placement provision, including at recruitment Open Days.
- Line management as required.
- Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post
