About us

The Sheffield College is a further and higher education institution dedicated to providing academic, vocational, and professional qualifications to approximately 13,000 young people and adults annually. Our mission is to transform lives through learning, advocating for inclusivity and diversity at every stage.

About The role

The purpose of this role is to manage and be responsible for a caseload of apprentices and work-based learners, taking them on a successful and exciting journey to achieve their planned learning programme within the targeted timeframe.

Post holders will be required to liaise effectively between College Academy staff, employers and the learner to ensure the achievement of a full apprenticeship programme and other work-based programmes in a timely and professional manner, building and maintaining strong working relationships.

Main Responsibilities:

The initial assessment and the development of individual learning plans
The development of a scheme of work for an apprenticeship programme, visiting apprentices on the job, planning and delivering high quality off-the-job training including qualifications where required
Support and assessment of the apprenticeship programme, and preparation for end point assessment
Post holders will be required to support the development of apprentices’ English, Maths and ICT skills and will work closely with all parties to ensure apprentices are fully engaged with their learning, stretched and able to achieve their goals.
Tracking and monitoring the progress of the apprentice is essential in order to secure achievement of the programme. The Post Holder will use the College’s e-portfolio system for this.
To ensure the College delivers an outstanding service to apprentices and employers, the post holder will be expected to take part in quality monitoring and continuous quality improvement activities as outlined in the Quality policy. This may require additional training.
This role is integral in the safeguarding of young people and acts as an advocate for equality and diversity.
Post holders will play a key role in engaging with relevant stakeholders to assist and support with completion of all relevant documentation and provide the link between college and employer.
Post holders are to promote the take up of apprenticeships, work-based programmes and commercial courses in line with the College Growth Strategy and to proactively sustain and develop the work-based business of the College in close consultation with the Head of Apprenticeships.
