Outwood Academy City, located in Sheffield, is part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust and serves 1,200 students with state‑of‑the‑art facilities and an innovative, personalised curriculum.

About the Department

The successful candidate will lead our dynamic Computer Science team, inspiring the next generation of digital innovators, problem‑solvers, and future technology leaders. With cutting‑edge technology, three specialist computing rooms, expert support from trust Subject Directors, and a popular after‑school enrichment programme (Minecraft, gaming & e‑Sports Club), we empower teachers to make a real difference.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate a clear purpose and vision while providing cohesive leadership and direction to the Department/Faculty.
  • Model the Academy’s values, promote high standards through effective teaching, and implement the Department Development Plan/Self‑Evaluation Form (SEF) to secure continuous improvement.
  • Develop and sustain DEEP LEADERSHIP through line management of staff, overseeing department resources and budget, reviewing syllabuses, and conducting Performance Management Reviews.
Qualifications
  • Degree in the relevant subject and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Good understanding of the secondary curriculum (Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5), knowledge of current departmental issues, and understanding of school improvement and Ofsted inspection programmes.
  • Evidence of leading or supporting the leadership of a department, successful teaching across all key stages, and experience managing new initiatives.
Required Skills
  • Outstanding classroom practice with a clear vision.
  • Excellent relationships with students and staff.
  • Ability to analyse data and develop rapid improvement intervention strategies.

32 hours per week.
