Cover Supervisor

The Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences. You will be responsible for supervising classes, delivering pre‑set work, and ensuring students remain engaged and on task.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervising whole classes during the short‑term absence of teaching staff
Delivering clearly planned and prepared lesson materials provided by the school
Managing classroom behaviour effectively, maintaining a calm, focused, and respectful learning environment
Encouraging student participation and supporting pupils to complete their assigned work
Covering lessons across a variety of subjects and year groups as required
Responding appropriately to questions while knowing when to seek guidance or support from senior staff
Ensuring safeguarding policies, health and safety procedures, and school standards are followed at all times
Providing feedback to teaching staff where required on student engagement and progress

The Ideal Candidate :

We are looking for individuals who are confident, adaptable, and passionate about supporting young people in an educational setting.

You will ideally:

Have previous experience working with secondary‑aged students (schools, tutoring, youth work, coaching, or similar - desirable but not essential)
Be confident leading a classroom and managing student behaviour
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be reliable, punctual, and professional in your approach
Have the ability to adapt quickly to different subjects, classes, and school environments
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to obtain one
