Position: Salaried GP

Initially looking for maternity cover with a view to becoming permanent and potentially a partner GP. We are looking to cover 6 sessions. You would bejoining an excellent team of 2 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, ACP, Physician Associate, nurses and a PCN pharmacyteam. We are seeking someone to enhance our team and who shares our ethos.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a GP using theirprofessional skills and knowledge to provide a high standard of care to ourvery supportive, well trained friendly and multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will provide effective clinicaladmin, audit and manage as appropriate to the role.

The post holder will be an active team member,participating in update meetings, clinical meeting and education sessions.

Killamarsh Medical Practice serves approx. 8500 patients in North East Derbyshire and we have great transport links being close to the M1 and M18. We serve a very settled community and border with Sheffield and Rotherham.

Our clinical system is Systm One, and we use Accu Rxand eConsult as part of our access/appointment system.

We play a full part in the North East Derbyshire PCN, as one of 4 practices who work well together. There are exciting plans underway with additional roles, as well as local system redesign to help us thrive into thefuture.

Job responsibilities

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will undertake a variety of duties,including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needsof patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for diseaserisk factors and early signs of illness

Developing care plans for healthin consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols

Providing counselling and health education

Admitting or dischargingpatients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

Collecting data for audit purposes

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Prescribing in accordance withthe practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general, the post-holder willbe expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Undertake an equitable share inprescription management and other administrative duties.

Undertake Duty Doctor sessions as agreed after initial induction period.

Other responsibilities within the organisation:

Awareness of and compliance withall relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality,data protection, health and safety

Training

A commitment to life-longlearning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice

Contributing to evaluation/auditand clinical standard setting within the organisation

Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records

Contributing to the summarisingof patient records and read-coding patient data

Attending training and eventsorganised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

All our clinicians are encouraged to take an active role in training within the practice

Health & Safety

The post holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health and safety and securityas defined in the practice Health and Safety Policy, to include

Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines

Identifying the risks involved in work activities in a way that manages those risks

Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills

Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free fromhazards
