About the role

It is exciting times here at Churchill Retirement Living and due to our bold growth plans we are recruiting for a Commercial Apprentice to support the Commercial team in our Northern Region based in Warrington.

This is a great opportunity to learn and gain experience across the different areas of the department, getting hands on experience in the roles of Buying, Estimating and Quantity Surveying as you support the team with various tasks.

Your role will be predominantly office based and will include a variety of duties where you will learn to assist in the costing of construction works, measurement of drawings, preparation of information for budgets and issue tender documents. You will also provide support with general administration and build strong relationships with Construction and Technical Departments. We will get you out onto site to see how the work you do in the office, contributes to the progression of the construction project.

An apprenticeship with Churchill Retirement Living also offers a professional, friendly, and family values working environment where vital ‘soft’ skills such as report writing, communication, teamwork and effective and efficient working practices will be developed.

The hours of work are Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5.30pm and Fridays are 9am to 5pm.

What Qualification do I get?

On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will gain the following qualifications :

  • Surveying Technician Level 3 apprenticeship
  • BTEC level 3 in Construction and the Built Environment
What opportunities are there for progression?

After gaining your level 3 apprenticeship there is natural progression on to an HNC in Quantity Surveying and beyond that a Degree apprenticeship.

About you

This is a busy and varied support role. To be successful you will need :

  • Good communication skills and the ability to develop strong and positive working relationships with both colleagues and external suppliers
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • High standard of verbal and written English
  • To be comfortable analysing information
  • A proactive approach
  • A basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • A willingness to learn and develop

Upon joining the programme you will need the following qualifications :

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade C / 4 /
    5) Essential
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade C / 4 /
    5) Essential
  • GCSE or equivalent in a science based subject would be an advantage
