Groundworks Foreman – Job Description
OverviewWe are currently seeking an experienced Groundworks Foreman to join our site teams on live construction projects. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing site activities safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality expectations. The successful candidate will be hands-on, confident leading operatives and subcontractors, and highly experienced across all aspects of groundworks delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead daily site activities, ensuring operatives are working safely, effectively, and to the required quality standards
- Deliver and record risk assessment briefings, toolbox talks, and site safety communications
- Ensure correct plant, labour, and materials are available on site to meet programme requirements
- Oversee works carried out around buried and live services, ensuring safe systems of work are implemented
- Engage positively with site operatives to drive Health & Safety, Quality, and Productivity standards
- Interpret construction programmes set by Site Management and convert them into practical working methods to achieve target dates
- Supervise and manage subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered to specification
- Maintain a strong commercial awareness of site activities and productivity
- Act as a key point of contact for clients and site management, communicating proactively and professionally
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications to ensure works are carried out correctly
- Expert knowledge across all core groundworks elements, including:
- Ground beams and sub-structure concrete
- Drainage and oversite slabs (housing)
- External works and roads
- Cut and fill earthworks
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Able to work collaboratively with other trades and site teams
- Committed to delivering works safely and to programme
- Right to work in the UK
- CITB 5-Day SMSTS
- CSCS Supervisor Card
- First Aid at Work Certification
- Safety Critical Medical (site specific)

To comply with client requirements, NPORS cards affiliated with CSCS and carrying the CSCS hologram are required. We no longer accept traditional NPORS cards.
