The Head of Business Development at Solutions
The mission of the Head of Business Development is to design and execute Solutions’ first structured sales function, transitioning the business from purely inbound demand to a scalable, repeatable “land and expand” sales engine. This role will directly drive profitable revenue growth across cyber essentials, defence cyber certification and wider cyber services, while equipping the existing team to sell effectively into UK organisations and their supply chains.

- A clearly documented and board‑approved go‑to‑market and sales strategy, with particular emphasis on defence and space, sales pipeline design, and supply‑chain‑led expansion.
- Delivery of a defined, implemented and adopted sales process, including pipeline stages, qualification criteria, forecasting accuracy and CRM discipline.
- Measurable uplift in new revenue and margin versus historic inbound‑only performance, contributing to the company’s targeted 50% year‑on‑year growth.
- A functioning sales pipeline with appropriate coverage a visible mix of new sign-ups and expansion within the existing customer base.
- Measurable improvement in renewal performance and land‑and‑expand outcomes, with increased uptake of ’s broader cyber services suite.
- Demonstrable uplift in commercial capability across the existing team, evidenced by improved win rates, deal quality and confidence in selling beyond core cyber essentials.
- The Head of Business Development will be directly accountable for:
- Designing and owning the overall sales strategy and commercial operating model for Solutions, aligned with growth targets and board expectations.
- Building, managing and reporting on the sales pipeline and forecast to the board, including accuracy, risk assessment and mitigation actions.
- Personally running and closing key deals end‑to‑end, particularly higher‑value and strategic opportunities.
- Owning the annual renewals process from a sales/commercial perspective, ensuring robust retention and identifying expansion opportunities.
- Setting and monitoring sales performance metrics (new revenue, margin, conversion, cycle time) and taking corrective action where performance dips.
- Providing structured, data‑driven feedback into leadership on required sales tooling, processes and resources, and overseeing their implementation once agreed.
- Ensuring ’s commercial activity and messaging are consistent with brand positioning and regulatory/contractual expectations in UK public‑sector and supply‑chain environments.
- The Head of Business Development will have significant responsibility (without sole accountability) for:
- Collaborating with the Managing Director and Global Operations Director on overall commercial strategy, pricing discussions and long‑term growth plans.
- Influencing and shaping marketing and branding initiatives, ensuring demand‑generation.
- Working with operations and delivery teams to ensure sales commitments are realistic, deliverable and aligned with the company’s capability and capacity.
- Partnering with product and technical experts to shape compelling propositions, value messaging and sales narratives for the cyber services suite.
- Contributing to decisions on when and how to grow the sales team.
- Supporting the refinement of customer segmentation and prioritisation, with particular focus on defence, space and other high‑value, compliance‑driven sectors.
- Supporting the development of case studies, references and proof‑points that help position Solutions as a preferred partner for MOD and government‑linked supply chains.
- This role will work closely with and contribute to:
- Development and refinement of marketing campaigns focused on target sectors and compliance‑driven buyers.
- Alignment of content, messaging and events to the sales strategy.
- Ensuring smooth handover from sale to delivery for cyber essentials, DCC and wider cyber services.
- Collaborating on improvements to delivery models that enable more scalable “land and expand” growth.
