Overview

The Staffing and Contracts Officer will provide a high‑quality staffing support service to staff and students across the School acting as the first point of contact for enquiries related to a broad range of staffing activities. Activities will include undertaking all aspects of staff recruitment, processing contract extensions and amendments, and using the University’s MyTeam (SAP) system to record and monitor a range of staff related activities.

You will process casual worker and honorary contracts in line with established processes.

You will work closely with School colleagues and central HR to ensure that activities in the School adhere to University guidelines and best practice, offering advice and referring complex queries where needed.

You will have excellent IT literacy, including experience of using Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are essential, along with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work flexibly.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Act as a first point of contact to provide a range of information and advice on staffing processes and policies, escalating complex queries as needed.
  • Lead the process for the recruitment of staff, liaising with HR and job applicants, organising interviews, completing right to work checks, processing requests to appoint and coordinating payment of interview expense claims.
  • Monitor and action fixed‑term contracts coming to an end and ensure relevant HR processes are followed where appropriate. Process contract amendments and extensions, liaising with finance and HR as required.
  • Process research passport applications, liaising with HR as appropriate.
  • Co‑ordinate the honorary contracts process, processing new applications, monitoring honorary contracts due to come to an end, processing extensions where appropriate and keeping accurate records.
  • Lead the casual worker process, including registration and processing payments.
  • Provide administrative support for the SRDS process for staff within the School, arranging meetings, chasing paperwork and recording on SAP as required.
  • Ensure that the University staff policies and procedures are implemented effectively including absence reporting.
  • Manage data and records keeping in line with GDPR, filing confidential files as required and maintaining electronic documents, records & databases.
  • Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
