Summary
We are recruiting non-graduate trainee accountants to join UHY Hacker Young's Sheffield office. The role focuses on audit within a growing client portfolio, with wider exposure to accounts and tax. You'll study AAT via an apprenticeship, progressing to ACA, alongside hands‑on training.

WorkMost of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.
What you’ll do at work- Develop an understanding of our clients and their businesses
- Complete audit programmes and form conclusions on each test and section completed
- Highlight issues and problems for the attention of senior auditors or managers
- Become familiar with our audit and accounting software
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements for a range of clients
- Supporting audit assignments, including testing and documentation
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and working with bookkeeping data
- Liaising with clients to request information and resolve queries

Training providerFIRST INTUITION LEEDS LIMITED
Training scheduleDuring your contract, you will initially study towards the AAT or qualification and progress on to study ACA with the ICAEW to become a chartered accountant. You will be enrolled on classroom tuition at First Intuition to complete the AAT under an apprenticeship programme.
More training informationThe successful candidate will undertake a full review of their existing skills versus what is required in their new role. First Intuition will then advise on the best apprenticeship programme for them. This will be a structured AAT Apprenticeship programme at Levels 3 or 4 (depending on candidate's experience and knowledge).
What you’ll learnCourse contents
- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or elevate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non‑finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
