Job Responsibilities

  • Assists operators on inspection, training, and measuring requirements.
  • Audits parts and collects data for statistical studies for deviation records.
  • Creates data collection forms.
  • Trains staff on data collection, ensuring lack of bias.
  • Inspects all extrusion lines on a regular basis throughout the day, at start-ups, and before shut-down.
  • Inspects all extrusion lines four times per shift.
  • Inspects production every two hours during the production process.
  • Performs a "First" and "Last" piece check of every production line at start-up and before shut down.
  • Inspects all secondary jobs running every two hours during the fabrication process.
  • Performs a "First" piece check after the set-up of secondary equipment.
  • Inspection requirements include straightness in production process, and dimensions, surface quality, and color.
  • Checks may also include analyzing material moisture.
  • Records test data.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Read and follow blueprints and specifications.
  • Periodically calibrates all measuring instruments and gauges against standard measures to assure accuracy, documenting the process.
  • Gathers production orders, supplies, prints, tagged samples, gauges or mating parts, color chips, and other documentation of each product run.
  • Trains employees on the proper use of all measuring tools, how to read and interpret engineering drawings, the proper use of mating parts and gauges, and how to fill out quality check sheets.
  • Documents scrap tickets; monitors and charts for waste pieces counted as good, returned goods, etc.
  • Maintains inventory list of mating parts, maintain list of fabrication samples, and maintains list of color chips.
  • Participates in task teams such as ISO, audits, development of Quality Assurance manual and establishes location and tracking systems.
  • Work as a team member with QA Manager and act as a stand-in during their absence.
Other Experience and Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Membership in QA or plastics professional organizations desirable.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
