Sheboygan County is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in County facilities. In this role, you will perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties that directly support the comfort, safety, and daily operations of employees and the public.

As a Custodian, You Will- Clean and sanitize restrooms and clinical areas; replenish paper towels, tissue, and other supplies.
- Operate cleaning equipment to maintain floors and carpets.
- Dust and clean chairs, tables, file cabinets, shelves, furniture, venetian blinds, and related equipment.
- Wash windows, woodwork, and mirrors.
- Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash; support recycling efforts.
- Follow assigned cleaning schedules and safety procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to meet the job’s physical demands.
- One or more years of cleaning experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work respectfully with coworkers and the public.
This position primarily works indoors within County facilities. While protected from outdoor weather conditions, the environment may include varying temperatures, limited ventilation at times, and exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, and infectious materials. Personal protective equipment (such as rubber gloves) is required as appropriate.
- Physical requirements include:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Climbing stairs, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and reaching.
- Repetitive use of arms and hands while operating mops, brooms, and vacuums.
- Pushing and pulling cleaning equipment.
- Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.
- Sufficient visual acuity to ensure accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
- Ability to communicate work progress and emergencies to coworkers.
