Major Responsibilities

  • Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting/updating pertinent health information (chief complaint, allergies, medications). Monitors and completes Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures with notification to clinician for opportunities within scope.
  • Performs laboratory procedures (strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using aseptic technique and standard precautions/infection control guidelines.
  • Assists Physician/APC with procedures such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy.
  • Administers routine medications under Physician/APC orders or standing orders; includes immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, topical agents.
  • Follows through with procedure or test requests, pre‑approved care algorithms, new appointment times and referrals. Refers questions to RN and Physician/APC per scope and relays info back to patient.
  • Communicates with Physician/APC and health care team to ensure smooth clinic flow; provides accurate and timely info to patient.
  • May perform basic/advanced clinical support tasks or skills appropriate to specialty and competencies under supervision (e.g., removal of sutures/staples, laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, prescription refills).
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care; assesses data and interprets appropriate info for patient’s age‑specific needs.
Licenses & Certifications
  • LPN:
    Active state license. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required within 45 days unless leader determines otherwise.
  • Medical Assistant:
    Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required within 45 days unless leader determines otherwise.
Education and/or Degrees Required
  • LPN:
    Advanced training beyond high school; completion of accredited/approved program in Practical Nursing.
  • Medical Assistant: GED or high school equivalency; completion of accredited program in Medical Assistant or 2 years full‑time experience within last 5 years.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within medical assistant scope after demonstrating competency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; rapport with patients, team members, physicians.
  • Proficient computer skills: keyboarding, navigation within Windows OS, electronic mail, exposure to electronic medical record systems.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, reach above shoulders throughout workday.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, use patient handling equipment with second team member if available.
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch; fine‑hand manipulation skills.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids; required to wear protective clothing and equipment.
  • Operate all equipment necessary to perform job.

Schedule Details/Additional Information
  • 8–9 hour shifts during standard business hours Mon‑Fri 6:45 am‑5:30 pm.
  • Standard 40 hours per week; full time.
Compensation
  • Base compensation within pay range $22.50–$33.75, based on qualifications, skills, experience.
  • Premium pay (shift, on call, etc.) based on job.
  • Incentive pay for select positions.
