Position Overview

Pay Range: $27.60/hr - $28.94/hr

Hours: 4:30am - 1:00pm;
Monday-Friday (Overtime as production demands)

As a Johnsonville Formulation Operator, you get the opportunity to think pro-actively and understand how formulation affects plant flow. Work together with other Formulation Members to obtain World Class blending results in safety, yields, usages, and efficiencies. Consistently manufacture "great tasting" sausage products according to specifications. Set goals and objectives; both personal and as a team member to acquire "superlative" performance to support the Johnsonville Way.

Responsibilities
  • Setup, run, rotate positions, teardown, and inspection of equipment in your area such as grinders, blenders, and spice sifting but including hot water washes all by following proper safety lock out tag out procedures.
  • Safe and proper use of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals on equipment.
  • Take ownership for daily accurate SAP documentation of products/supplies (including scanning, counting to verify materials, and document quantities).
  • Operate the dual grinders and run all other equipment within the department.
  • Communicate between Scheduler, Production Coordinators, Team Leaders, and Production Reporters as needed.
  • Must be able to support MS Formulation Operator roles and CS LBB Grinder/Blender roles as a cross-functional team.
  • Able to effectively manage meat inventory (i.e. meat age).
  • Plan and execute the daily work required to supply Meat Inspection and Formulation teams with materials and ingredients needed (dry and liquid ingredients, cardboard, labels, etc.).
  • Must be able to manage the quality of materials used (i.e. spice sifting, rejecting bad materials, etc.).
  • Communicate with purchasing members regarding "out of ordinary" circumstances with materials.
  • Able to effectively do Fat Analysis offline.
  • Able to support the proper cleaning of plastic combos through combo wash.
  • Support Meat Inspection process as needed such as doing a position on that line, receive in materials, ensure material quality, transfer raw meat into combos, and/or place materials in racks.
  • Operate reefers and maintain proper trailer temps.
  • Ready and prepare outbound shipment including load outbound trailers per specifications.
  • Reconcile supply inventories after daily production.
Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong math background is required.
  • Complete production documentation paperwork accurately.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to set up all grinders independently after proper training.
  • Must be able to identify Critical Control Points (CCPs) and maintain all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Must be able to work with chemicals and operate the combo washer on a rotating basis.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be able to push/pull containers filled with product/spice/liquids.
  • Must be willing to learn basic computer skills such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Must have a very keen eye for visual inspection purposes.
  • Having the ability to perform an accurate daily inventory on rework.
  • Ability to learn and accurately perform all the SAP transactions associated with position.
  • Willing to work in cold conditions.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift license and keep safe driving record.
  • Willingness to work extended hours including weekends.
  • Based on business necessity, must be proficient in English.
