Title: Clinical Educator
Reports To: Director of Clinical Operations, Quality & Compliance
Department: Clinical Operations
Position Summary:
The Clinical Educator is responsible for continually developing staff who care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and supporting their families. This position also acts as the main link between hospice clinical operations and the education team. The role includes creating, delivering, and maintaining clinical education programs that ensure regulatory compliance, effective onboarding and orientation, and ongoing professional growth. The Clinical Educator works closely with clinical staff to help them use the EHR and LMS, manages the clinical preceptor program, and collaborates with the education team to make sure educational materials meet DHS, CMS, and OSHA standards.
Essential Functions:
Clinical Education
- Responsible for standardized competencies for each nursing discipline (RN, LPN, CNA, MA) and for the implementation and evaluation of comprehensive clinical education and training programs in coordination with the Education Team.
- Represent clinical operations as a member of the Education Team.
- Serve as a point of contact for clinical staff regarding educational requirements, competencies, and learning pathways and work closely with clinical leadership to provide remediation for staff.
- Demonstrate expert level ability to support and resolve EHR, LMS-related and other platforms utilized in care delivery for the clinical team.
Preceptor Program & Onboarding
- Oversee the clinical preceptor program to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and alignment with hospice standards of care.
- Collaborate with clinical leadership and the education team to integrate the preceptor program into the onboarding process for new clinical staff.
- Support the development of structured learning pathways that promote ongoing competency, professional growth, and staff retention.
- Evaluate preceptor and onboarding outcomes and recommend improvements based on data and feedback.
Educational Content Development & Compliance
- Partner with the education team to review, develop, and update clinical education materials and curricula.
- Ensure educational content complies with DHS, CMS, and OSHA regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Assist in translating regulatory and accreditation standards into practical, learner-centered educational content.
- Support survey readiness, audits, and quality initiatives related to education and training compliance.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, committees, and work groups related to education, quality, and compliance.
- Identify clinical learning needs and trends and collaborate on targeted educational solutions.
- Utilize LMS data and feedback to support continuous improvement in education and training programs.
- Be innovative in developing and delivering content utilizing a variety of methods, including but not limited to video, e-learning, interactive in-person classroom delivery and one-to-one coaching.
- Available to share information about SSRCH to community groups and organizations.
- Assumes responsibility for personal annual training and professional development to maintain and improve practice, competency and develop new skills.
Qualifications:
- Certificate/Degree/License Requirements:
Active WI RN license, valid Wisconsin driver’s license upon hire; re-certification as required. - Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years public health, home health nursing or hospice experience with progressive focus on leadership and adult clinical education. - Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Master’s degree in nursing, nursing education, or related field a plus. - Skills Requirements:
