To serve as the Linebackers Coach for the football program at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) within the philosophy and direction of the Head Coach as well as demonstrating a commitment to live out and advance the OBU mission statement through the sport of Football. Must comply with all NCAA, Great American Conference and institutional rules and regulations.
Essential Functions- The Linebackers Coach is responsible for the development and performance of the linebackers unit. This position involves coaching student‑athletes in techniques, strategies, and game preparation while promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Key Responsibilities:
Coaching and Development. - Conduct position‑specific drills and practices to enhance skills and techniques.
- Analyze game film to provide constructive feedback and improve player performance.
- Foster the personal and athletic growth of student‑athletes.
- Game Strategy: collaborate with the defensive coordinator to develop game plans and defensive schemes, scout opposing teams to identify offensive tendencies and weaknesses.
- Monitor the academic progress of the Linebackers.
- Player eligibility.
- Recruiting.
- Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, preferably with quarterbacks.
- Strong knowledge of football strategies and techniques.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Required:
Collegiate coaching experience.
Preferred:
Advanced football knowledge.
- Ability to carry at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be a member of a local evangelical Christian church.
