Purpose

To serve as the Linebackers Coach for the football program at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) within the philosophy and direction of the Head Coach as well as demonstrating a commitment to live out and advance the OBU mission statement through the sport of Football. Must comply with all NCAA, Great American Conference and institutional rules and regulations.

Essential Functions
  • The Linebackers Coach is responsible for the development and performance of the linebackers unit. This position involves coaching student‑athletes in techniques, strategies, and game preparation while promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Key Responsibilities:

    Coaching and Development.
  • Conduct position‑specific drills and practices to enhance skills and techniques.
  • Analyze game film to provide constructive feedback and improve player performance.
  • Foster the personal and athletic growth of student‑athletes.
  • Game Strategy: collaborate with the defensive coordinator to develop game plans and defensive schemes, scout opposing teams to identify offensive tendencies and weaknesses.
Other Duties
  • Monitor the academic progress of the Linebackers.
  • Player eligibility.
  • Recruiting.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, preferably with quarterbacks.
  • Strong knowledge of football strategies and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Experience

Required:

Collegiate coaching experience.

Preferred:
Advanced football knowledge.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to carry at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Special Requirements
  • Must be a member of a local evangelical Christian church.
