Position SummaryThe Systems Engineer (Level III) provides full-time, on-site engineering support for the Electronic Access Control and Surveillance System (EACSS) at the Bureau of Reclamation Northern California Area Office facility.
This role is responsible for ensuring the operational reliability and performance of the facility’s physical security infrastructure, including electronic access control systems, surveillance cameras, and monitoring platforms. The engineer will support system maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration, and coordination with government security personnel to maintain a secure and reliable operating environment.
Key Responsibilities System Operations & Maintenance- Maintain and support electronic access control and surveillance systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and system health monitoring.
- Ensure continuous operation of security hardware and software systems.
- Diagnose system failures involving controllers, access panels, cameras, servers, and networking components.
- Perform system repairs and coordinate equipment replacement when required.
- Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and corrective actions.
- Configure and maintain:
- Access control systems
- CCTV / video surveillance systems
- Alarm monitoring platforms
- Ensure system compatibility with existing government facility infrastructure.
- Support IP-based security devices and communication systems.
- Configure and troubleshoot device connectivity and network integration.
- Coordinate with IT personnel to maintain secure and reliable system operations.
- Maintain compliance with federal facility security policies and procedures.
- Support system inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Maintain system documentation and configuration records.
- Coordinate activities with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and the NCAO Security Manager.
- Participate in coordination meetings and provide system status updates.
- Maintain maintenance logs and operational documentation.
- 7-10 years of experience supporting electronic access control or surveillance systems
- Experience with electronic access control platforms and CCTV/video surveillance systems
- Knowledge of IP networking and integrated security systems
- Experience supporting government or enterprise-level security environments
- Ability to work full-time on-site
- Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone, or similar security platform certifications
- CompTIA Network+ or CCNA
- Physical Security Professional (PSP) or equivalent security certification
