Our Client is a publicly traded, high-tech automotive manufacturer specializing in next-generation electric commercial vehicles. As the company scales manufacturing and engineering operations and advances next-generation vehicle and mobility technologies, they are seeking a Senior Plant Accountant
The Senior Plant Accountant will serve as a critical financial partner to Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering. The role will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining cost standards, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, and supporting monthly close activities. The role balances hands‑on accounting operations with strategic business partnership, delivering meaningful reporting and analysis that drives operational and financial performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory valuations, and production variances to ensure financial accuracy and operational transparency
- Prepare and maintain standard cost models, updating cost rolls as business conditions evolve
- Partner with Operations, Purchasing, and Supply Chain to ensure accurate product costing and margin analysis
- Coordinate and oversee annual physical inventory processes with Operations partners, ensuring compliance with internal controls, accurate reconciliation to system balances, and audit‑ready documentation
- Support the month‑end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis for areas of ownership including inventory, warranty, revenue recognition, and others as assigned
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve operational efficiency
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing cost and margin insights to FP&A and business partners
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices in cost accounting and reporting
- Partner with IT to design and maintain cost accounting data integrity within the ERP system (QAD)
- Support internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit requests related to inventory and cost accounting
- Participate in ERP enhancements and process automation initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 5–9 years of progressive cost accounting or manufacturing finance experience; automotive or EV OEM experience strongly preferred
- Strong command of standard cost accounting, inventory management, and plant financial operations
- Strong knowledge of working with and building costing from BOM (Bill of Materials)
- Hands‑on experience with QAD or comparable enterprise ERP platforms such as Plex or SAP; advanced Excel skills required
- Demonstrated experience supporting month‑end close, variance analysis, and account reconciliation in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit support related to inventory and cost accounting
- Proven ability to partner cross‑functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and FP&A
- Strong intellectual curiosity and bias toward action — consistently investigates issues beyond the surface, defines next steps, and takes ownership to resolve problems end‑to‑end
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving production environment with competing priorities
- Approximately 25% travel required between Detroit, MI, and Union City, IN

Compensation$90,000 - $125,000 P/A (Negotiable on Experience)
