Responsibilities
- Prepare hemodialysis machine for dialysis treatment.
- Initiate and terminate dialysis treatment for renal failure patients.
- Set all the parameters in the dialysis machine as per nephrologist order.
- Monitor machine and patient parameters periodically during the dialysis procedure and document it.
- Disinfect and clean the hemodialysis machine after each procedure.
- Disinfect, clean and maintain the water treatment system.
- Send reverse osmosis water periodically for microbiological and chemical analysis and keep records.
- Send dialysate samples periodically for microbiological and chemical analysis and keep records.
- Maintain appropriate records for periodic preventive maintenance of the dialysis machine, R.O. system, and dialysis chairs.
- Monitor compliance with policy and procedure.
- Manage complications during hemodialysis.
- Provide patient privacy and maintain confidentiality.
- Provide a safe environment free from any form of discrimination and harassment.
- Aware of patient rights.
- Maintain an inventory of dialysis consumables.
- Maintain high standards of patient care through continuing education of staff regarding operating, cleaning, and general maintenance and troubleshooting of hemodialysis machines and R.O. units.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity; identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
- Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Notify OSH hazards, incidents, near‑misses, and issues and assist with the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.
- Comply with waste‑management procedures and policies.
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
- Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety.
- Assist with the preparation of risk assessments.
- Report OSH hazards, incidents, near‑misses, and issues.
- Reduce, reuse, recycle waste as much as possible.
- Participate in OSHMS audits, inspections, ensuring standards are maintained.
- PCI is everyone's responsibility; all staff must read and implement the NMC PCI Policy and Strategy to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness and reduce infection risk.
- Strict hand hygiene, five moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows, and environmental care will be expected of all staff, including the post holder, at all times.
- Qualification:
Bachelor Degree in Science / Diploma / Degree in Dialysis Technology. - Experience:
Minimum two years of experience. - Knowledge:
Excellent knowledge of all aspects of dialysis technology and dialysis machines. - Technical
Skills:
Basic Life Support. - Excellent communication skills with good command in writing and speaking in English; knowledge in Arabic preferred.
