Regular or Visiting Faculty Civil Engineering

Position Overview

The Department of Civil Engineering (CVE) in the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a regular or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level commencing in Fall Semester 2026. The visiting faculty position is primarily focused on teaching, while the regular position requires establishing a high-level, active research program supported by internal and external funding.

The visiting position is a one-year renewable contract; the regular position is a three-year renewable contract.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field and demonstrate a significant teaching portfolio. Excellence in teaching and research, as well as experience with the American model of higher education, are highly desirable. For the regular position, specialization in construction engineering and management and/or digital construction is required. Visiting positions may be filled by specialists in any civil engineering specialty.

The Department of Civil Engineering has approximately 150 undergraduate students, 65 graduate students, 15 full-time faculty, and 2 lab instructors. Students and faculty represent diverse backgrounds and nationalities; approximately 90 nationalities are present on campus. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Digital Construction Engineering and Management, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in Construction Management, and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
