Wood is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our UAE Business Unit. This is a full‑time office‑based role in Sharjah, UAE with business trips.

Contributing to technical delivery of engineering excellence through:

• Executing assigned scopes of work.
• Providing discipline expertise to the business.
• Supporting and supervising task delegation to team.
• Using technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems. Completes almost any engineering task with minimal guidance and direction. May serve as the primary discipline engineer or discipline technical authority on projects with small to medium complexity.
• Performs engineering assignments, usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes design recommendations.
• Requires mature professional knowledge in planning and conducting assignments having scope for coordination of difficult tasks.
• Applies specific area(s) of expertise in own discipline area.
• In consultancy businesses, may review and manage complex projects within area of expertise or of a multidisciplinary nature.

• Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment.
• Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
• Ensures successful completion of the assigned project/phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
• Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.
• Evaluates problems, organizes investigations and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes, etc.
• Checks engineering calculations as well as all drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards; assists with the development of less senior technical professionals.
• Adheres to and complies with relevant discipline‑specific procedures and provides feedback for continuous improvement.
• Participates in audits and incident investigations as required.
• Performs complex engineering tasks related to specific units of major projects.
• Participates in site visits, project review meetings, design reviews and other workshops as required.
• Organises and actively participates in design reviews.
