Job PurposeThe Department of Applied Biology seeks a qualified faculty member at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Computational Biology and Omics, to join the team in the academic year commencing Fall
2026.
The selected candidate is expected to contribute effectively to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate biotechnology courses, including Bioinformatics, Advanced Bioinformatics and Data Analysis, General Biology, and Systems Biology, as well as to supervise fourth‑year graduation projects and MSc research projects.
Applicants should submit an updated CV clearly documenting their teaching and learning profile, research and innovation achievements, and university and community service. The CV should include evidence of teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels, student supervision, curriculum and course development, use of effective and innovative teaching practices, and familiarity with accreditation processes. It should also demonstrate a strong research track record in terms of publications, citations, research impact, external funding, and alignment with existing research priorities at UoS, in addition to contributions to academic service, professional societies, student support, and community engagement.

Responsibilities- Contribute effectively to teaching diverse theoretical and practical Computational Biology and Omics courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Conduct high quality research work in the omics area & contribute effectively to building research groups in biotechnology.
- Secure research funding from both internal and external sources to support scholarly activities and innovation.
- Provide academic and professional advising and mentorship to students, supporting their educational and professional development.
- Participate in the development, design, review, and enhancement of academic programs and curricula at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of assessment tools and processes to evaluate student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrate active engagement in research, collaboration, and academic service.
- Support community outreach initiatives, student extracurricular activities.
- Ph. D in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, from a university recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in the UAE and preferably ranked among the top 200 universities worldwide.
- The candidate should have a strong research publication record in the fields of Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Omics in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required.
- Professionalism in computational biology and omics techniques.
- Postdoctoral experience supported by impactful first‑author publications in computational biology and omics would be an asset.
