The University of Kalba invites applications for a qualified and motivated Lecturer in General Education, to be appointed within the fields of Education or Social Sciences and Humanities, under the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of interdisciplinary General Education courses offered across the University, including but not limited to Islamic Studies, Arab Society, Introduction to Education, and Sport Pedagogy.
We seek candidates holding at least a Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a closely related field, with demonstrated experience in university-level teaching. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong pedagogical expertise, a commitment to student-centered and outcomes-based education, and the ability to situate foundational knowledge within broader social, cultural, ethical, and educational contexts.
The Lecturer will play a key role in advancing the University’s General Education mission by fostering critical thinking, ethical reasoning, cultural literacy, and interdisciplinary understanding among undergraduate students.
Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality undergraduate General Education courses using engaging, inclusive, and student-centered teaching methodologies.
- Teach across a range of foundational courses, including but not limited to Islamic Studies, Arab Society, Introduction to Education, Sport Pedagogy, Sport History, and Sport Philosophy.
- Contribute to the development, review, and continuous enhancement of course syllabi in alignment with institutional learning outcomes and accreditation requirements.
- Employ innovative pedagogical approaches, including active learning, experiential learning, and technology-enhanced instruction.
- Design, administer, and evaluate assessments aligned with course learning outcomes.
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to students, supporting their academic progression and intellectual development.
- Participate in college-level committees, curriculum development activities, and academic service as required.
- Collaborate with faculty across the College and other colleges to ensure coherence within the General Education Framework.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to teaching excellence, interdisciplinary education, and curriculum innovation.
- Support university initiatives related to community engagement, cultural awareness, and educational outreach.
- A Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a closely related field from an accredited institution (PhD preferred).
- Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses in higher education.
- Ability to teach effectively across more than one General Education subject area.
- Strong pedagogical skills and experience with student-centered, outcomes-based teaching practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to academic professionalism, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in both Arabic and English (required).
- Experience teaching within a General Education framework.
- Familiarity with accreditation standards and quality assurance processes.
- Experience integrating ethical, cultural, and societal perspectives into teaching.
- Engagement in curriculum development, educational innovation, or pedagogical research.
