Equipment Operator​/General Laborer

Description

This position will operate light equipment or heavy equipment to transfer, spread and load MSW, Clean Wood, C and D waste. This position will also perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks and assist in all aspects of site grounds maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Transfer, spread, cover, load and/or compact solid waste or soil while operating excavators, loaders, landfill compactors, backhoes, tractors and skid steers as well as off-road trucks

• Process materials for recycling while operating grinders and screeners

• Operate general site vehicles and equipment, such as pickup trucks, sweepers, etc.

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment and vehicles

• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles

• Maintain various records and/or logs

• Wash, lubricate and fuel equipment and vehicles

• Pick materials from incoming loads

• Carry out site grounds maintenance including; picking litter, mowing, weed whipping, street sweeping, plowing and dust control

• Perform building and other stationary equipment maintenance

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience with heavy or light equipment
