RN Infection Preventionist

Benedictine Health System is a Catholic, mission-based, non‑profit health system headquartered in Minnesota, that provides independent living and complete long‑term care services for aging adults, including assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation.

St. Gertrude’s Registered Nurse Infection Preventionist will join a team of care professionals in a post‑acute environment. This RN will be responsible for our 105 skilled nursing facilities.

Responsibilities will include
:

• Provide surveillance, investigate and monitor to prevent the onset and spread of infection.
• Monitor to prevent onset of infection.
• Control outbreak.
• Develop, implement and maintain data and analysis records of infections and incidents.
• Determine nursing home precautions to prevent cross‑contamination.
• Ensure linen storage and handling procedures are followed.
• Ensure compliance to federal, state, BHS and facility standards.

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Possess skills in leadership and communication.
• Has sufficient infection control knowledge base to carry our responsibilities.
• Must be able to manage Excel files and create graphs and other data presentation.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

• Membership in APIC or equivalent.
• Certification as an Infection Preventionist.

Is required to monitor, gather, organize and interpret infection control data implementing changes as needed for prevention and control of infectious diseases. This position must be able to interface with all staff to assist with infection control practices relating to specific departments. Must be able to work independently, multi‑task and work as a group member as required. Must be able to develop educational materials and provide presentation to all levels of staff and management.
