Job Summary

The Admissions position is responsible for collecting and scanning tickets for entry into Canterbury Park, assisting guests with purchasing event tickets, seating guests as well as sharing information regarding Canterbury Park in general. The Admissions position will ensure each guest attending any event held at Canterbury Park is welcomed with the highest level of customer service. Responsible for supporting the Company’s mission, vision, and values by providing an unparalleled experience of fun and entertainment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead by example.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, delegates effectively and coaches and mentors direct reports for growth opportunities.
  • Initiates and practices the highest level of guest service by ensuring that new and returning guests are provided with an exceptional experience.
  • Engage in meaningful and personalized conversation while assisting customers in making informed choices regarding their Canterbury experience.
  • Embrace Canterbury’s core values by having fun and conducting business the Canterbury way!
  • Ensure that guests are welcomed into a clean, safe and professional environment by taking ownership and having pride of the overall cleanliness of your work area.
  • Review and retain information from the Canterbury Post in order to support and promote all business units by communicating details of marketing promotions and upcoming events.
  • Control point of entry to Canterbury Park on live race days as well as special event days. Scan admission tickets as well as examine tickets to verify authenticity, ensure re‑entry processes are followed as specified for each event.
  • Follows all cash management and cash register policies and ensures proper cash management practices are followed.
  • Check tickets and direct guests to their reserved seats.
  • Assist in enforcing outside food and beverage policy and prohibited items.
  • Follows Canterbury operational policies and procedures to ensure safety to all guests.
  • Assist Guests with ticketing issues and complaint resolution.
  • Monitor reserved seating section and maintain visibility with guests in order to identify seating concerns and address and resolve issues when needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to interact with guests and co‑workers in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Accountable for cash drawer accuracy.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as dictated by the event calendar.
  • Must be able to pass Canterbury Park’s pre‑employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
  • Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
  • Must be able to work well in a high energy, fast‑paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous money handling experience.
