Entrust is hiring a Sr. Metrology Technician and looking for a subject‑matter expert in the areas of engineering drawing interpretation, machined‑component dimensional layout, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), precision measurement techniques, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). This position works closely with all functional groups to develop and support CMM and inspection equipment programs, inspection plans, validation and documentation of the integrity of components and assemblies manufactured throughout the facility.
The role may involve extremely complex assignments where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required to resolve problems and develop recommendations to management.
- Effectively set up and operate CMM (Zeiss) and Vision Systems (OGP).
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for writing CMM programs and inspection routines.
- Ensure accuracy of CMM program to dimensioned tolerances in relation to specified prints.
- Create and document appropriate part setups.
- Develop and implement part conformance inspection plans.
- Coordinate machined‑part qualification and in‑process inspection activities.
- Provide technical expertise and support across all functional groups.
- Develop and maintain inspection programs with revision control within database.
- Perform and document first‑article inspections to verify part conformance to specifications.
- Facilitate regular CMM maintenance programs and calibration activities.
- Understand and implement continuous improvement techniques on projects.
- Work closely with Design Engineering to provide feedback regarding part design, tolerancing, and manufacturability.
- Design and fabricate measurement fixtures as necessary.
- Provide CMM training to inspection and machining personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a metrology environment, using measurement tools such as calipers, pin gauges, and micrometers to measure parts against engineering print specifications, and programming and operating coordinate measuring machine (CMM) equipment.
- Thorough understanding of Gage R&R, GD&T, and engineering print interpretation.
- Strong statistical aptitude.
- Strong working knowledge of machined parts.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand, walk, and climb for extended time periods.
- Able to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for the US.
- Associate’s degree (2‑year) in engineering or a technical field.
- ASQ Metrology Certification.
- Experience programming and operating Zeiss coordinate measuring machines and Calypso software.
