The Hospitality Attendant assists guests in a variety of areas by ensuring they are having a great time, making them aware of all Canterbury has to offer, providing seating options and assisting with sales in the Gift Shop using best practices of sales and service. The Hospitality Attendant will ensure that each guest attending any event held at Canterbury Park is welcomed with the highest level of customer service.

- Initiate and practice the highest level of customer service by ensuring that new and returning guests are provided with an exceptional experience.
- Engage in meaningful and personalized conversation while assisting customers in making informed choices regarding their Canterbury experience.

- Ensure that guests are welcomed into a clean, safe and professional environment by taking ownership and having pride in the overall cleanliness of your work area.
- Review and retain information from the Canterbury Post in order to support and promote all business units by communicating details of marketing promotions and upcoming events.
- Learn and master functions of the customer relationship management tools and the enterprise ticketing system.
- Process and double‑check ticket sales for walk‑up customers.
- Direct guests to appropriate reserved seating areas.
- Monitor reserved seating areas and maintain visibility with guests in order to identify seating concerns and address and resolve issues when needed.
- Understand customer needs by asking open‑ended questions; suggest additional items to build onto sales by utilizing effective selling techniques.
- Explain product features and benefits in relation to the customer needs by providing in‑depth knowledge; maintain awareness of all current products as well as current promotions.
- Observe shop inventory levels; restock as needed, report low inventory for re‑ordering, count and record month‑end inventory.
- Support all sales efforts and initiatives in order to maximize gift shop sales.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to interact with guests and co‑workers in a highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as dictated by the event calendar.
- Must be able to pass Canterbury Park’s pre‑employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
- Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
- Previous customer service and money‑handling experience.
- Basic math skills.
