Qualifications
  • Education:

    Minimum High School Diploma required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Psychology, Special Education, Communication Sciences & Disorders, etc.) preferred.
  • Licensure: N/A.
  • Basic knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, child and adolescent development, human sexuality, family.
  • Ability to perform essential duties with initiative and independent judgment.

  • Interpersonal communication:
    Communicate clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context.

Position Summary

The Autism Treatment Specialist is part of an interdisciplinary team expected to provide high quality service provision, data collection, therapeutic intervention, and instruction in individual and/or small group formats.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver and facilitate behavior intervention and response plans and instructional program designs based on Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) goals and objectives.
  • Observe, describe, and document client data regarding behavior presentation and skills using various measurement methods.
  • Provide care and support for all clients, including individualized supervision, personal care activities, advocacy, and help in managing clothing and belongings.
  • Utilize structured activity schedules to support clients in navigating daily routines with visual supports.
  • Participate as a team member through effective communication and by following guidelines and procedures based on assessments.
  • Lead daily activities and routines to optimize progress toward treatment programs.
  • Protect clients from physical and emotional harm, using Safety-Care crisis management strategies and interventions, and physical management procedures as necessary.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations including injuries, missing clients, and crisis situations involving dangerous behavior.
  • Follow treatment guidelines to develop and foster skill acquisition of universal communication responses.
  • Teach clients independence in activities of daily living, functional communication, emotion regulation, and cooperation.
