At Nippon Steel Pipe America, you will do more than just pack parts. We will teach you how to use gauges and calipers to ensure that the steel parts that you produce are of the highest quality. You will learn how to operate an overhead crane. You will use company provided tools to do your own set ups on your machine.

You will learn how flat rolls of coiled steel are rolled into tubes, welded and cut to length.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews customer drawings and specs, comparing requirements to existing product.
  • Plans & prepares PPAP documents for new customer products.
  • Primary contact for customer complaints.
  • Analyzes and assists in resolving customer complaints for existing products to include advising and assisting in corrective action. Reports findings and corrective action plan back to customer.
  • Completes required countermeasure reports and presents to customer.
  • Conduct trend analysis of Quality problems both in house and at customer.
  • Support Process Capability studies.
  • Identify gaging needs and develop / order gages as needed.
  • Completes required new product documents and inspection reports.
  • Trains QA associates in quality functions.
  • Support ISO 9000 Internal Audit system / Perform ISO Audits.
  • Some travel to customers is required for:
  • Acquiring knowledge of products and how they are used.
  • Development and maintenance of working relationships.
  • Investigating / reporting in regard to quality problems.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Exposure to loud noise levels, dust heat and cold, and various chemicals while in plant area (lubricants, cutting fluids, drawing oils). Hardhats, safety shoes, earplugs and safety glasses are a requirement to be worn at all times while in the plant.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing company.
  • ISO 9000 / TS 16949 experience preferred.
  • BS / Engineering or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Computer knowledge – word processing and spreadsheet knowledge at a minimum.
  • Working knowledge Statistical Process Control, gaging and gage R&R studies a plus.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic quality tools (5-Why, 8-D, 5-P, Fishbone diagram, SPC, R&R, etc.).
