job summary

the electrical apprentice works under the guidance of an electrical foreman or electrical superintendent assisting with assigned tasks on agricultural construction projects. This position supports installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and calibrations of electrical systems and equipment while gaining hands‑on field experience.

the apprentice plays a key role in supporting jobsite productivity, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring work is completed according to project specifications and electrical code requirements.

duties / responsibilities
  • assist in interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics
  • install and repair electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures
  • install conduits and piping to house electrical wiring
  • thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate conduit supports
  • install circuit breakers and electrical hardware
  • connect electrical systems to power lines
  • test electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation
  • inspect systems and assist with troubleshooting and repairs
  • replace conduit, wiring, and electrical components as needed
  • examine electrical units for loose connections or damaged insulation
  • transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from worksites
  • maintain clean and organized jobsite conditions
  • update work logs and assist with administrative tasks as needed
  • perform other duties as assigned
required skills / abilities
  • basic knowledge of national electrical code (nec) and osha safety standards preferred
  • strong interest in electrical systems and trade‑related materials
  • ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • safety‑oriented mindset
  • strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
  • organized and efficient work habits
  • willingness to learn and take direction
  • ability to work outdoors in all conditions
  • ability to work extended hours as needed
  • ability to travel as required
education / experience
  • high school diploma or ged required
  • completion of an electrician training program preferred
  • knowledge of nec codes preferred
  • previous construction or trade experience preferred but not required
physical requirements
  • ability to lift and carry tools and materials
  • ability to work at heights
  • ability to wear required ppe
  • ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
  • ability to work in varying weather conditions
