About The Role
The Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Technician works in coordination with the rest of the FSQ team to ensure safe and high-quality food is produced in the manufacturing facility. This individual will have a direct impact on building and maintaining a positive food safety and quality culture throughout the company. This is a fairly broad position that includes various levels of product/environmental testing, employee and facility auditing, document verification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position primarily works on the production floor and directly supports production. This person should have a high attention to detail, be an effective communicator, and be a team player.
- Conduct verification/monitoring checks and cGMP audits throughout production to ensure FSQ requirements are being adhered to. Deviations are addressed and corrected, when possible, and results are documented in the applicable electronic software.
- Complete pre-operational inspections each morning to ensure the production rooms have been cleaned, sanitized, and are ready for production. Pre-operational inspections include visual inspection, environmental monitoring testing, and sanitation concentration checks.
- Collect samples from the environment or food product and complete applicable testing for a variety of microbiological, chemical, and/or functional parameters.
- In collaboration with FSQ Management and the rest of the FSQ Team, assist in completing various continuous improvement initiatives and corrective action investigations.
In performing their responsibilities, employees are expected to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision, interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers, work effectively as a team contributor and independently while understanding the necessity for communication with other employees and throughout Scoular.
About You- HS diploma or GED required; college degree in a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months in a related position required, preferably in the food industry. Experience may be substituted with relevant education.
- Experience working with HACCP, SQF, or FSMA is preferred.
- Proficient in using computers and Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Must be organized and have effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work well both individually and within a group.
- This position will be required to work frequently indoors, in a cooled, sanitary environment with temperatures 45°F or below.
- Frequently around loud production equipment.
- Infrequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Infrequently exposed to high, precarious places (e.g., the roof).
