As the Grocery Home Shopping Department Manager at Safeway, you serve as the primary contact for customers, ensuring orders are selected, processed, and delivered within established standards and timelines while maintaining superior service quality.
Job DescriptionYou train, supervise, schedule, and assign duties to Personal Shoppers, ensure equipment is used safely, respond to pressure situations, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Job Duties- Provide customer service as defined by the employer within company policy.
- Operate hand‑held computer/scanning unit to check in items from the order, ensuring the merchandise matches the order.
- Identify and locate items efficiently within the three categories of the store (ambient, chilled, and frozen). li>
- Monitor/review the picking of orders to ensure time commitments are met.
- Bag grocery items and place them into bins.
- Push filled cart (12 items per bin or lesser larger items 6 bins per cart) to the back room area to be staged on hand trucks.
- Push loaded hand truck to the delivery truck.
- Load filled bins onto delivery truck, ensuring correct loading of truck.
- Train, schedule and supervise Personal Shoppers.
- Ensure all daily/weekly routines are adhered to to demonstrate due diligence with regard to legal compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness of store and back room area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Monitor the processing of all customer orders to ensure customers receive all products that have been ordered/charged for.
- Ability to follow company customer service procedures; demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
- Ability to interact with customers and co‑workers.
- Ability to train teams of people.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of Safeway is highly desirable.

Frequent handling/grasping of items; seldom fine finger manipulation or forceful gripping. Use of peripheral vision to move around store and rear area, near vision to read labels and process orders.
Speech is used to provide service to customers and to interact with other employees. Hearing is required to receive instructions and information from the manager and other employees, and to interact with customers.
