The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) provides appropriate nursing care as directed by a Registered Nurse in a Long Term Care facility. Responsibilities include gathering and reporting patient data, carrying out orders, and performing therapeutic procedures on patients in an age and population-appropriate manner.

Seward, Alaska, United States
Responsibilities:
- Gathering and reporting patient data
- Carrying out physician orders
- Performing therapeutic procedures on patients
- Assisting patients in their routine activities of daily living
- Collecting patient data and specimens
- Obtaining and recording vital signs
- Communicating patient status and reporting changes in patient condition to licensed professional
- Performing selected patient registration activities
- Coordinating equipment/supply needs
- Answering unit phone and directing calls accordingly
- Performing data entry into electronic medical database systems
- Documenting patient care and related duties appropriately
Required Skills &
Certifications:
- Current LVN/LPN license in the state of Alaska
- BLS certification
- Previous travel experience
- Long Term Care (LTC) experience
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience
Preferred Skills &
Certifications:
- Prior experience in emergency or critical care environments
- Higher comfort level working with vents/trachs/PICC lines, etc.
- 2 years of experience in direct patient care
Special Considerations:
- Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major Winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years)
- No on-call requirement
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Facility will arrange for a vehicle for traveler to use while on assignment.
Scheduling:
- 4x12 or 3x12 Variable shifts (traveler's choice)
- Shifts will be either Days or Nights, dependent on facility needs at time of start date
- Guaranteed 60 hours per 2 weeks
- Traveler can be called off for 1, 12-hour shift per 2 weeks
- No more than 2 weeks of RTO will be considered for a 26 Week Contract
