About UsSTEM Space is a nonprofit organization offering hands-on summer programs in robotics, engineering, and technology for students in grades 1–8. We're led by award-winning educators and engineers, and we're looking for enthusiastic instructors to join our team this summer.
The RoleAs a Lead Camp Instructor for our 3rd–8th grade programs, you'll guide students through a week of hands-on STEM activities. You'll lead lessons, manage materials, and create a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment. You'll also lead a small team of volunteer staff to support your program.
This role is perfect for college students studying engineering, technology, science, or education. Open to flexible arrangements, including internship credit for eligible students.
Programs include:
- Engineering Camp – Students explore mechanical, civil, aerospace, and electrical engineering through hands-on projects like catapults, bridges, and rockets. Grades 3-5
- Robotics Camp:
Lunar Logistics – Students build and program LEGO-style robots to complete space-themed missions and challenges. Grades 3-5 - Lego Robotics Camp – Students will learn to use Lego Mindstorm robots to solve challenges applying sensors and programming. Grades 6-8
- 3D Printing Camp – Students will use 3D modeling software Onshape to learn how to make objects digital and use additive manufacturing to make projects. Grades 6-8
- Lead daily activities and lessons for your assigned program
- Lead and coordinate a team of volunteer staff
- Manage classroom materials and equipment
- Supervise students and ensure a safe environment
- Communicate with staff during drop-off and pick-up
- Must be 18 years or older
- Experience working with children (teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counselor, etc.)
- Interest in STEM, robotics, engineering, or technology
- Organized, and able to lead a group
- Reliable transportation to camp sites
- Available to work full weeks (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm)
- Background check required
- Have CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to attain prior to the start of the program
- Experience with FIRST LEGO League, robotics, maker education or other technical learning
- Studying or background in engineering, technology, science, or education
- Pay:$16–$19/hour based on experience
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm - Dates:
June 22 – August 14, 2026 (flexible by week)
