About this Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive finance professional to provide operational leadership of the school's finance function. Working under the strategic direction of the School Business Manager (SBM), you will oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, ensure accuracy and compliance, monitor budgets, produce timely management reports and act as the key operational link between the finance team, SBM and external advisors.

You will also line‑manage finance staff, ensuring workloads are effectively prioritised, procedures are consistent, and development and support are provided.

The ideal candidate will hold a recognised finance qualification or equivalent experience, with significant experience in a finance role, strong understanding of financial controls, compliance and audit processes, and demonstrable experience in budget monitoring and financial reporting. Experience in a school, academy or public sector setting, familiarity with local authority finance systems, and experience supervising staff would be advantageous.

We are seeking someone highly organised, accurate, analytical and able to communicate financial information clearly. Professional integrity, discretion and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines are essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an internal candidate to broaden their impact and take a leading operational role in our school's finance function.

This post is advertised internally only and priority consideration will be given to employees who have been formally placed at risk of redundancy as a result of the decision to restructure the Business Management Structure. Applications from eligible employees within this group will be considered in the first instance.
